January 23, 2013:   The group “PA Responsible Citizens” held a rally on the steps of the state Capitol in Harrisburg to oppose any new gun laws. Speakers told the group of about 200 people who gathered in the cold that they preferred to see enforcement of gun laws already on the books. They invoked the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guaranteeing the right to bear arms and a clause in the Pennsylvania Constitution saying the right of citizens to bear arms “shall not be questioned.”  Senator Solobay addressed the crowd, saying the state and nation should provide more help for those with mental and emotional problems and leave responsible gun owners alone.gun-rights-rally-sen.solobay-01-23-13

June 19, 2012: Senator Solobay speaks on the Senate Floor in support of legislation that honors fallen police officer John David Dryer.  House Bill 2215 designates the interchange at the intersection of Route 136 and I-70 as the Officer John David Dryer Memorial Interchange.  The 46-year old police officer for East Washington Borough was shot and killed in the line of duty last December during a traffice stop.  The bill now goes to Gov. Corbett for his signature.

October 25, 2011:  The Pennsylvania Disabled American Veterans Hospital Transportation Network received 14 new vans this week as a result of funding provided by the state. During the past year, 280 DAV volunteer drivers provided more than 50 thousand rides to veterans so they could receive much needed medical care.
